Proposal would have chilling effect on pursuit of justice for more than 50,000 cancer victims nationwide. The latest legal maneuver designed to help Bayer AG (OTCMKTS: BAYRY) circumvent its legal responsibility to cancer victims exposed to the weed killer Roundup has drawn a swift rebuke from the trial lawyers of the Dallas-based Fears Nachawati Law Firm, who represent thousands of individuals who have developed non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma after exposure to Roundup. U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria, tasked with overseeing the entire Roundup multidistrict litigation (MDL), rejected a proposed class-action settlement in May that would have limited the ability of cancer victims exposed…
Last week, the Texas Department of State Health Services issued a news release revising the official number of deaths resulting from Winter Storm Uri, which caused a catastrophic failure of the state’s electricity grid, resulting in prolonged blackouts, property damage and deaths. The previous death toll from the February storm stood at 151. This latest release revises that number upward to 210, an increase of 59. This updated estimate still stands far below 702, which is the number reported by Buzzfeed on May 27th in a story titled, “The Texas Winter Storm And Power Outages Killed Hundreds More People
Fears Nachawati co-founder Majed Nachawati and firm attorney Michael Gorwitz give an expert analysis for Law360 on fostering diversity in multidistrict litigation leadership positions. “MDL leadership positions are important because they have the ability to shape crucial litigation across the entire country. Unlike a class action, which involves the resolution of a large number of distinct claims in a single action, an MDL ties together potentially thousands of separate cases filed in courts throughout the country for coordinated pretrial proceedings, before being remanded to individual trials on the merits. This is why diversity in MDL is so important. Nothing says…

BuzzFeed News has published an analysis on the catastrophic failure of Texas’ power grid in February that killed hundreds more than the state has acknowledged. FN co-founder Majed Nachawati comments. “It’s astounding and it is disturbing, and our job is to make sure we hold the [power] generators, who we believe primarily responsible, accountable for the untimely deaths of these 80 deceased victims,” Nachawati said. “Those people being mothers, fathers, children, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters.” Read the full article here.   The post The Texas Winter Storm And Power Outages Killed Hundreds More People Than The State Says appeared first…
Today, U.S. District Court Judge Vince Chhabria rejected a proposed settlement that would have limited the ability of cancer victims exposed to Bayer AG’s Monsanto Roundup weed killer to pursue lawsuits for relief. Fears Nachawati co-founder Majed Nachawati praised the ruling, saying the judge’s decision sent an important message to Bayer AG and a group of plaintiffs’ lawyers who had crafted a settlement that at best was flawed and unfair. “Because of today’s order from Judge Chhabria, justice for present and future cancer victims prevailed.  We applaud Judge Chhabria for soundly rejecting Bayer, Monsanto and [plaintiffs’ lawyer] Cabraser’s Faustian bargain,”…

Fears Nachawati recently filed one of the first lawsuits…
